International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management

The NVQ Level 7 international diploma is designed to provide learners with the expertise required to undertake a career as a health and safety manager. It also provides a sound basis for progression to postgraduate study. The scope of the programme is to provide a career path for learners who wish to develop their practical capabilities within the health and safety sector. 

This course is fully regulated by OFQUAL UK.

NVQ Level 7 (IDOHSM)

The NVQ Level 7 international diploma is designed to provide learners with the expertise required to undertake a career as a health and safety manager. It also provides a sound basis for progression to postgraduate study. The scope of the programme is to provide a career path for learners who wish to develop their practical capabilities within the health and safety sector. 

ACCREDITATIONS

The diploma provides 60 credit points for 4 units through assessments. This qualification is divided into four units:
  • Unit 701: Management-Driven, Risk-Based Safety Management Systems
  • Unit 702: Globalisation, Sustainability and Safety Culture Performance
  • Unit 703: Digitalisation and Incident Investigation
  •  Unit 724: Development as a Strategic Manager

UNIT DETAILS

The Level 7 International Diploma requires the candidates to have a demonstrable experience in safety and health in a workplace. To qualify for this, candidate should meet any of the minimum qualifications listed below:
  • A minimum of a Level 6 qualification in a ESC course or in a related sector (or)
  • Bachelors in Engineering (or)
  • Masters in Engineering (or)
  • A minimum of 3 years’ managerial work experience which demonstrates current and relevant industry knowledge (or)
  • NVQ Diploma Level 6 (or)
  • NEBOSH International Diploma
In certain circumstances, individuals with considerable experience but no formal qualifications may be considered, subject to interview and being able to demonstrate their ability to cope with the demands of the programme.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The overall learning outcomes of the diploma are as follows:
  • Apply and critique different implementation standards for occupational health and safety management.
  • Evaluate the role of strategic leadership in risk management
  • Review the impact of globalization in an organisation’s safety culture
  • Understand and apply the principles of sustainability in safety sector
  • Analyse problem-solving techniques that are specific to risk assessment
  • Manage strategic risks in organisation health and safety domain
  • Analyse the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in occupational health and safety risk management
  • Evaluate risk control measures from a wide range of hazards

LEARNING OUTCOMES

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

  •  Learners can attempt the 4 modules at the comfort of their workstations
  • The 4 modules submissions are accepted electronically via email.
  • Learners can choose any module to work on.
  • Learners must only submit one module at a time.
  • Learner can research, apply their thinking and answer
  • All information provided must be the learners own work with full information provided fully referenced.
Learners will submit the completed modules to the assessor. Assessor will provide feedback to the learners to fill the gaps. This will be a cyclic process and that’s how a learner will progress in this qualification.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS – STUDY MSC OHSM AT UNIVERSITY OF PORTSMOUTH, UK

The course validity is for 18 months. A learner can opt to submit the modules within this time frame, as and when they complete a module. They must then submit this for assessor review.

COURSE DURATION

University of Portsmouth, UK recognises the NVQ Level 7 International Diploma in OHSM as a direct progression route to MSc OHSM with 60 credits, allowing learners to study 120 credits with the Learning at work department to gain a full MSc OHSM.

This arrangement is exclusive for learners enrolling to the NVQ Level 7 Intl Diploma through Demoura Lawson Consulting.

It is also important to note that for learners from the Middle East, the University of Portsmouth program is an approved distance learning master’s degree in the State of Qatar as well as the United Arab Emirates
