The Highfield Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) has been devised to introduce teaching for those who wish to or already work in FE Colleges, Independent Training Providers, or Local Authorities.
It can meet the requirements of a variety of preservice teachers, including:
• Individuals who are not presently teaching or training – attainment of the qualification does not necessitate practice beyond microteaching unless units from the Learning and Development series of qualifications are chosen.
• Individuals currently teaching and in training, including those new to the profession – although the qualification does not necessitate practice (see explanation above), opportunities to observe and provide feedback on a trainee teacher's practice may be made available; and
• Individuals who are currently working as assessors and wish to obtain a teaching qualification.
Overview
This qualification requires a total of 120 hours to complete, with 48 hours recommended as guided learning hours.
TQT is an estimate of the total number of hours required for an average learner to acquire and exhibit the required level of attainment in order to be conferred a qualification, both under direct supervision (forming guided learning hours) and without supervision (all other time). TQT and GLH values are assigned to qualifications as recommendations.
How long will it take me to achieve this qualification?
This qualification is assessed by a portfolio of evidence which must cover all assessment criteria of the units selected. The portfolio of evidence will be assessed and internally quality assured by the Centre.
How is the qualification assessed?
Individuals achieving this qualification may wish to progress onto the Highfield Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (RQF).
